She was snatched by the BJP supporters from the custody of police and badly beaten after she stabbed to death Kesri when the latter was meeting the people. She was rushed to Katihar Medical College Hospital about 40 km from here for treatment.

Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting he said that those meeting MLAs and MPs would now be frisked. Besides, Director general of police (DGP) Neelmani has been asked to ensure adequate security for Rupan Pathak.

Claiming that the murder of an MLA was an isolated incident Nitish said he had ordered a high-level inquiry into it. The inquiry report would unravel the truth, he added.

The chief minister also condoled the death of the MLA and added that any security lapse involved in his murder should also be inquired into.
