Purnea CJM rejects Rupam’s plea for treatment in PMCH

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Chief Judicial Magistrate of Purnea, D L Prasad, on Wednesday rejected the petition of Rupam Pathak, the alleged rape-victim accused of stabbing BJP MLA Raj Kishore Keshari to death, that she be shifted to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) for further treatment.

The Court rejected the appeal, filed by her lawyer Hemant Kumar, after going through the medical reports of the district administration.

Purnia District Civil Surgeon Dr Ram Charitra Mandal, in his report, submitted before the Court that a medical board, formed by the administration, had examined Pathak in jail and found her healthy so there was no need to transfer her to PMCH.

Rupam was badly beaten on January 4 morning by the BJP supporters after she stabbed to death the MLA, who along with his aide Bipin Rai allegedly raped her. Her mother said the other day that she suffered serious internal injuries and should be shifted to Patna. However, women groups alleged that she is not being shifted to the state capital as it would become a big issue.

I feel that Rupam Pathak should be shifted to PMCH, and even the case should be shifted to a Patna Court, as there is bound to be lot of irregularities in this case if it is trialed in Purnea. But, not sure on what basis the CJM rejected this plea, did he give any press release document for this?
