Rahul Gandhi meets victims of Bihar police firing

Patna, July 1 (IANS) Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi Friday visited a village in Bihar's Araria district and met victims of police firing in which four people were killed and nine were injured, officials said.
Gandhi visited Bhajanpura village near Forbesganj in Araria, about 350 km from here, where on June 3 the police fired at villagers protesting against an upcoming factory.

Four people, including a pregnant woman and a six-month-old baby, were killed while nine others were injured.

"Rahul Gandhi listened to grievances and demand of the victims and assured them of every possible help to get them justice," a Congress leader, Prem Chand Mishra, said.

Gandhi arrived at the IAF airbase in Purnia from New Delhi and soon left for Forbesganj to meet the victims.

According to district officials, Gandhi returned to New Delhi from Purnia after visiting the victims.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has already ordered a judicial probe into the incident.
