Bihar MLAs, MLCs to get laptops

Patna,(BiharTimes): When the then Rabri Devi government more than a decade back distributed computers to all the MLAs and MLCs of Bihar many in the then opposition parties criticized the move and dubbed it as waste of money asmost of the elected representatives were not computer-literate.

"Their sons and daughters would use it to play games," was how many in the media commented. The truth is that many journalists would themselves befriend these MLAs and MLCs to login and surf their computers as internet tariff was quite expensive then.

However, more than ten years later the present government has decided to do the same, but with a difference. As the elected representatives have, perhaps, become a bit hi-tech they, according to the deputy chief minister, Sushil Kumar Modi, would be provided with laptops. Sometimes back Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs had received the similar gifts. He said that they would be given a fixed amount to buy a laptop of their own choice. The MLAs and MLCs would also get amount to buy data-cards and
printers.
While talking to newsmen on Tuesday Modi justified the distribution of laptops at this stage of information technology revolution.
