Sushil Modi, Shivanand criticize Lalu-Sonia meet

Patna,(BiharTimes): Commenting on RJD chief Lalu Yadav’s meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that the former was making desperate attempt to become a minister in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet.

Talking to newsmen at the BJP headquarters on Thursday where he was listening to the grievances of the party workers he said that people of the state are well aware about the Congress-RJD relationship.

He said Lalu can not live without power just as fish can not survive out of water.

Modi said after remaining in power for 15 years in the state and five years at the Centre, Lalu wants to become minister at the mercy of Congress.

Janata Dal (United) national spokesman Shivanand Tiwari, one time a close confidant of Lalu Yadav, too joined Modi in flaying the former Railway Minister. He wondered whether the Congress would accommodate Lalu in the Union cabinet, when he is all but decimated.

Incidentally, the reaction of the NDA leaders is understandable as rumours are doing the rounds in Delhi that the Congress may woo at least two-thirds Janata Dal (United) MPs to its side. One report suggests that the rebel leader Lallan Singh is in constant touch with Ahmad Patel, political advisor to Sonia Gandhi.

This development is perhaps more disturbing for the NDA than Lalu’s meeting with Sonia.
