He said that Riyaz had been residing in the village for a week.

Reports from Kishanganj said that the villagers had reportedly said that Rizayul, who was staying at the
village for the last three weeks, had left the village on July 10 and had returned on the night of July 14 with burn marks on his both hands.

However, Neelmani did not confirm whether Riyaz had left the village on July 10 and returned on July 14.
Riyaz had taken a portion of Mahtab’s thatched-roof house on rent at Rs 500 per month. He had reportedly told Alam that he is a builder working at Kishanganj town, 40 km from the village. However, Mahtab’s family members pleaded ignorance about Riyaz, and said that they had given the house just on rent.
