Beleaguered JD(U) trains guns on media, BJP holds fire

Patna,(BiharTimes): For the first time in six years the ruling Janata Dal (United) in Bihar on Wednesday trained its big guns directly on the media.
The attack came by none else but the national spokesman of the party, Shivanand Tiwary, who minced no words to denounce a section of Press for launching a smear campaign against the kids of ministers on behalf of opposition leaders.

He strongly defended the allotment of land to Urvashi Shahi, daughter of HRD minister, P K Shahi, and Rahmat Fatima, daughter of Social Welfare Minister, Parween Amanullah and IAS officer, Afzal Amanullah.

It needs to be recalled that a couple of electronic channels and news portals have carried the story on allotment of BIADA land to the family members of the ministers, senior bureaucrats, MPs, MLAs and MLCs of the ruling Janata Dal (United) and BJP. In fact there was nothing to expose as the whole story of land allotment has been proudly loaded by BIADA on its website, which is biadabihar.in.
Incidentally, one of the channels which highlighted the news about the land allotment is IBN-7 to be followed by the sister English channel CNN-IBN. Besides, Mahua news, a regional channel of Bihar, also did the story.

Ironically, it was only last December that Nitish Kumar was declared CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2010. Though the ruling Nitish government widely propagated this news all over the state and outside as its achievement, on Wednesday the Janata Dal (United) leader had, in a way, issued a warning to the media stating that nothing could harm the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar.

Interestingly, no big BJP leader or minister has so far opened his or her mouth on the issue though the biggest beneficiary of the land allotment is none else but its MLC, Ashok Agrawal, whose firm in Forbesganj has already ran into bloody weather after the police firing which led to the death of four people.
