Sexy twist to ex-Munger SP’s allegation against Crime Reader

Patna,(BiharTimes): After the release of Mohammad Salim, Crime Reader in the SP office of Munger, on bail a ‘sexy’ twist is being given to the whole episode with the Deputy Inspector General of Police seeking CID probe into the matter.

Reports from the district said that Mohammad Salim, the former Crime Reader of the then superintendent of police (SP), M Sunil Naik, in a letter accused his former boss of promoting sex trade.
As widely reported Naik, during his stay in the district, had alleged that his Crime Reader posted in the confidential section in his office was working as “an agent” of the Maoists and had been passing on important information to the rebels. Following this Salim was arrested in October 2010 and was sent to jail.
But now that Salim had got bail he had sent a letter to the senior officers alleging that he was falsely implicated as he opposed the sex racket promoted by Naik and some of the Special Police Officers (SPOs).
His letters mentioned that Naik had developed an illicit relationship with a woman and provided some petty contracts to her husband.
“Naik’s wife, who used to stay outside Bihar, suddenly arrived in Munger and caught her husband with the woman. The situation reached its climax after altercations between the husband and the wife. Naik suspected me of disclosing his acts to his wife. Some SPOs also confronted me and pressed Naik to take action against me,” Salim wrote in the latter.
There were not many takers of Naik’s allegation in the police department itself. The deputy inspector-general (DIG) of Munger range, Anil Kishor Yadav, also raised his fingers on the then SP’s role to implicate Salim.
According to reports he has now asked the present Munger SP P Kannan to verify Salim’s allegations of sex racket against Naik. He even asked Kannan to request the state police headquarters for handing over the case to CID if difficulties arrived during investigations.
Local sources say that the DIG has sought CID help because he is well aware that Kannan (the present SP) and Naik are close friends and were in same batch of IPS. He apprehended possible problems in a fair investigation by the present SP.
Salim claims that he had enough evidence against Naik, who falsely implicated him in the case.
Now that Salim had got the bail the outgoing SP stands on a weak wicket. If he was really an agent of Maoists how could he get bail so easily, is the question on everyone’s lips.
It needs to be recalled that Naik had already been in trouble after the killing of six villagers in Karaili village of the district on July 2. Senior police officers had reportedly held the deployment of controversial elements as Special Police Officers (SPOs) by Naik as the factor responsible for the incident. The Maoists also abducted 11 youths after the incident. They were released later.
