Seepage in Buddha Park: Commissioner calls high-level meeting

Patna,(BiharTimes): Embarrassed by the news of non-stop leakage in the newly constructed Rs 134 crore Buddha Smriti Park Patna division commissioner K P Ramaiah on Wednesday called a high-level meeting and directed officials for early rectification of the faults. The heavy downpour on Wednesday––and even a few days before––fully exposed the much-hyped Park.

The Commissioner asked the officials to identity and protect the Patli trees. Rain water has wreaked havoc with the wood work and the staff had to keep buckets to store the water leaking at different points.
DIG Central Range Vineet Vinayak, Patna DM Sanjay Kumar Singh, SSP Alok Kumar, Municipal Commissioner Devesh Sehra, Patna Museum director Umesh Chandra Dwivedi, Park's project director Chandrabhanu Tiwari and MD of Bihar Urban Development Corporation, Anupam Kumar Suman also attended the high-level meeting.
Besides, Ramaiah also directed the officials to complete the renovation of Shree Krishna Memorial Hall, which has been going without air-conditioner for the last many months.
It was none else but the chief minister Nitish Kumar, who had to face the music of sitting without AC for a couple of hours in humid condition during the Janata Dal (United) Minority Cell meeting a month back.
What is interesting is that while the chief minister called the district magistrate of Patna then and there to inquire as to why the AC had not been functioning one of his party leader, Ghulam Rasool Balyawi, made a ridiculous statement while delivering his speech. He blamed the opposition parties for the failure of the AC.
However, the Patna Commissioner had now been informed that new compressors of 90 tonnes each had been installed in both the air conditioners and they were doing perfect cooling in the spacious hall. He had asked the Electrical Executive Engineer of the building department for keeping a third AC in standby.
While the ruling party leaders can find any excuse to accuse the opposition for the failure of S K Memorial Hall the pathetic condition of Buddha Park has raised many questions as even a poorly constructed village house do not seep at so many places in just a year time.
