LJP ceases to exist in Bihar Council as all three MLCs cross over to JD(U)

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Lok Janshakti Party ceased to exist in the Bihar Legislative Council as all its three MLCs joined the ruling Janata Dal (United) on Monday.
With this the LJP legislative party in the Council merged with the Janata Dal (United).

Rajendra Rai, Israel Rayeen and Raju Yadav were welcomed into the party by the State JD (U) president Vashisht Narayan Singh in the party office. Earlier in he day the three met chief minister Nitish Kumar at his residence and announced their decision to join JD (U).

Bihar legislative council chairman Tarakant Jha has also recognized the three MLCs as members of JD (U) in the House. The state JD(U) said that they would be given responsibilities to expand and strengthen the party base in their respective areas.

It needs to be recalled that immediately after the May 2009 Lok Sabha election the lone LJP member in the Council, Sanjay Singh, joined the Janata Dal (United). He is now the spokesman of the party.Apart from the three MLCs the lone JMM MLA in Bihar, Sunit Kumar Singh, who joined JD (U) last week, was present on the occasion. He is the son of agriculture minister Narendra Singh.

Sunil won from Chakai seat defeating BJP’s sitting MLA Faguni Prasad Yadav. Narendra, a JD(U) strongman from Jamui district, had never been in best of terms with Faguni, though he belonged to the alliance party, the BJP. In fact the latter was once pushed down from the dais by the minister’s supporters and got fractured his leg.

Narendra’s another son Ajay Pratap Singh is also a JD (U) MLA from Jamui while Abhay, was killed in his ministerial quarter in a shootout in February 2010. He even killed his wife before too.
