RJD questions the haste in which BIADA allotted land to VIPs

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rejecting the Chief Secretary’s report on BIADA land allotment the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Abdul Bari Siddiqui, questioned the haste in which the land has been allotted to the wards of ministers and leaders of Janata Dal (United) and BJP. He asked BIADA to give a single example in which it allotted land to a non-VIP applicant so fast.

Talking to mediapersons on Tuesday he said the Chief Secretary’s report was based on telephonic conversations with those who were accused of having been benefited by the government’s land largesse.

“Have you ever heard of an accused confessing to his crime?” he asked. If the government was neutral, why is it hesitant in ordering a CBI probe.

Siddiqui said since Mukherjee is scheduled to retire in a couple of months one could not expect him to hold an impartial inquiry. Officers on the verge of end of their service only aspire for a post-retirement career. The pace with which the files were disposed of speaks volumes about the use of influence.

For example Rahmat Fatima, daughter of minister Parveen Amanullah and bureaucrat Afzal Amanullah, applied for two acres of land on May 24, 2011 and got the allotment letter the same day. Likewise M/s Nidhi Pvt. Ltd applied for land on August 28, 2009 and received the allotment order the very next day. This firm applied for another plot of 1.5 acre on April 8, 2011 and was obliged only five days later on April 13, he added.

He said the RJD would move High Court to seek CBI probe into the matter.
