Bihar has allotted land to CUB in Motihari: Sushil Modi

Patna, (BiharTimes): The Bihar government has once again said that it has allotted land required for the Central University of Bihar at Motihari in East Champaran district.
Talking to the mediapersons here on Tuesday the deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said that it was now up to the Union Human Resources Ministry to decide when it would begin the construction.

Similarly, he said the state government would soon make space available for the Maulana Mazharul Haque Arbi Farsi University, now running from a government bungalow in Bailey Road. Though the University was started with much fanfare by the Nitish government it is without any permanent Vice Chancellor for the last several months.

Land for the Central University of Bihar, it needs to be mentioned, had become a bone of contention between the Centre and the state government. While the Centre wants land either in Patna or its vicinity or maximum in Gaya the state government is hell bent on allotting land in East Champaran district.

The Union HRD ministry, academics and officials are against the state government’s idea as Motihari is not easily accessible by road, rail or air route. The state government has repeatedly come under crticism for unnecessary making it a political issue and thus depriving the students of a very good institution. At present CUB is running from a makeshift campus near the Patna airport.

Instead for making ho-halla agains the government of Bihar on so called land "Scam" at BIADA, the opposition should have done justice to their role by protesting against the Bihar Government's decision to take CUB like prestigious institution to remote area like Motihari, which by no means can be called suitable, at present, to host a global level institution. Even when CUB is running presently from a makeshift campus in Patna, that too with faculty crunch and resources crunch, it has performed much better than Patna University, which has become synonymous to the anarchy in educaiton system, neglect, goondaism, where goondas have become face of students. captured hostels, outdated syllabus, faculties not even aware of current status of their subjects. There was a time when the same Patna University produced huge amount of great academicians and civil servants and was rated as "Cambridge of East". And see what it has become now. No one lives in history except the poor weak king turned beggar. The amount of public money being spent on the misadventures going on at PU and MU has no reasoning. PU has no institutional character left and it should be closed for goodness of Bihar and government should concerntrate either on these new Institutions who opened there recently and are performing superbly like NIT, IIT, CIMP, CUB, NLU. They are young, not corrupted and need to be protected and groomed so that they don't meet the same fate as PU has met. But no! Neither the opposition nor the government is concerned about the educaiton and research environment of Bihar. Both of them are thriving on political opportunism instead of doing their duty. There is no one to call protest march and state wide protest against the decision to shift CUB to Motihari.

Still even if you are hell bent to shift it to Motihari then it should be partial. The University should then have two campuses with one located in Motihari and another one in Patna/Gaya/Bihta/Rajgir-Nalanda. This is an amicable solution. I stay in Himachal and Himachal too has been given a central university. Just see how dynamicly and pro way its newly appointed VC Prof Qamar is working with government there to make it a great university. The government also realized the improtance of this central university to Himachal and it gave it the lands at best possible, well connected and safe places like Dharamsala, Shahpur and Amb. Three campuses. Dharamsala will have main campus, which is well connected by road, rail and airport and which has international presence on Map! Rest two places are also well connected and safe on road, almost equally distant from Shimla, Dharamsala and Chandigarh. These guys are working day and night to make the mark. But what we are doing for CUB? sending it Motihari like remote unsafe border area, where no infrastructure is there to support a gloabl repute institution and its requirement..so that it dies its natural way? Why not split campuses at Motihari as well as Patna belt if not Patna alone?

I dislike and distrust the intentions of Nitish Kumar government for this issue not for BIADA "Scam". This issue is more genuine and has big stake on the academic and intellectual future of Bihar, where our government and opposition both have shown ignorance and pathetic mental level, making us feel if Bihar really deserves suffering.

Bihar is Politically Hyper Active that is the reason for not development.
Central Government demanding land Near Patna then what is Problem for Nitish & sushil modi. They can easily provide Land Near Bihta AARA which is connected by road ,train & Air Port.
But Unnecessary playing politics of vote on CUB.
Finally CUB open near Patna or motihari But beneficiary Is Bihar otherwise Bihar will lose a CUB also.

Summary : Bihar cannot maintain quality of Patna university ( law & order ,hotel ,library) so how can possible to maintain quality of education in CUB at Motihari. All CUB teacher will take tution @ Patna.
