Court takes cognizance against Rupam in BJP MLA murder case

Patna,(BiharTimes): Special Judicial Magistrate (SJM), CBI, North Bihar, Krishna Kumar, on Wednesday took cognizance against Rupam Pathak, the main accused in Purnia BJP MLA Raj Kishore Kesri murder case.
She was charged with stabbing Kesri at his Sipahi Tola residence in Purnia on January 4 morning. The investigating agency had filed chargesheet against Rupam for culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 of the IPC.

However, the nephew of the slain MLA, Sudip Kesri, had challenged the CBI chargesheet, stating that Rupam should have been charged for murder under Section 302 of the IPC. But the court had on Monday rejected his petition saying that the CBI chargesheet had merit.

The SJM court on Wednesday transferred the case to the court of special judge, CBI, North Bihar, for further trial. As no chargesheet has been filed against the Editor of an English weekly, Navlesh Pathak, the court passed an order for separating his case from that of Rupam.

Navlesh was the first to publish alleged sexual harassment of Rupam Pathak in April last year. He was arrested by the police on the basis of an FIR filed in Khazanchi Haat police station by Sudip Kesri.
