Citizens protest Forbesganj police brutality

Patna,(BiharTimes): A large number of social activists, academics and intellectuals under the banner of Citizens’ Forum took out a demonstration to protest against the police firing and brutality in Forbesganj sub-division of Araria district.


The demonstration started from outside the Radio Station and marched till the Railway Station. The demonstrators than returned to the starting point before dispersing.


Raising slogans against the police brutality and repeated incident of administrative highhandedness in Bihar they called on the government to take immediate action against all those involved in the Forbesganj incident.


They asked as to why the government has not paid a single penny to all those six people who died in the firing. This included a seven month old girl and a pregnant woman.


Prominent among those who took part in the demonstration were Manish Shandilya, Vinod Kumar, Naiyer Fatmi, Shahzeena, Aftab Akhtar, Akhlaq-ur-Rahman, Ali Abid, Shaukat Ali, Anzaar and many others.


Briefing the media Rupesh, the Supreme Court Advisor to Right to Food in Bihar, strongly criticized the Nitish Kumar government for repeated incident of violation of human rights. He demanded immediate arrest of all those involved in the stomping over the body of an injured person, who subsequently succumbed to the injuries.


Rupesh told BiharTimes that in all the major incidents taking place in Bihar in the last few months the name of deputy chief minister is figuring prominently. Even in Rupam Pathak alleged rape case, which led to the murder of the Purnea BJP MLA, Raj Kishore Kesri, his name appeared in the media. In Forbesganj too he was helping the son of the BJP MLC, whose factory was in the eyes of storm there. He called for inquiry into the alleged role of the deputy chief minister.
