Patna,(BiharTimes): A large number of unsuccessful Class-XII students of CBSE here on Tuesday ransacked its Patna Regional Office in Fraser Road and caused widespread damage to property and reportedly manhandled the employees. The students were angry over what they alleged, backtracking by CBSE Patna office on the issue of re-evaluation. |    They told mediapersons that Regional Officer S U Sorte had given positive assurances regarding re-evaluation on Monday evening. The students were asked to give their roll numbers so that their answer books could be sent to New Delhi for re-examination. According to Kumar Divyam, one of the students who sat on a day-long hunger strike at the CBSE office here on Monday, Sorte assured him about the re-evaluation while offering juice to him to break the fast. However, when on Tuesday, the students had gathered to submit their roll numbers they were reportedly told that no 're-examination' would be conducted and it was useless to submit roll numbers. If students are to be believed this sparked off a heated argument with CBSE officials and the securitymen started beating them. This evoked similar response from the students. Reports say that about a dozen CBSE officials who sustained injuries were taken to the PMCH for treatment. Apart from students, some journalists were also reportedly beaten up by the security guards.     The Gandhi Maidan police have detained about two dozen students as a preventive measure. They were later released. Sorte, on the other hand, claimed the students had misinterpreted the information given by CBSE office. He said that he had told the students that copies would be sent to Delhi for the re-totaling verification and not for re-checking. He said he still stands by his statement. But there would be no re-evaluation and re-examination. However, students reiterated that they have been awarded very poor marks in some subjects, marring their future prospects. Many of them have qualified in prestigious competitions like IIT, AIEEE and other state engineering examinations.
