Janata Dal-United rebels hint at new party in Bihar

Patna, June 20 (1ANS) Dissidents in Bihar's ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) met in the state capital Monday and hinted at forming a new party to highlight Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's failure, a leader said.
According to a leader close to JD-U dissidents, the meeting was held at the residence of former JD-U MP Ejaz Ali. It was attended by former JD-U MP Arun Kumar, suspended party MP Upendra Kushwaha, suspended JD-U legislator Prem Kumar Mani and hundreds of party workers.

"Dissidents have made it clear they would launch an alternative political platform," said a dissident leader.

Kushwaha, one of the four JD-U MPs suspended earlier this year for his alleged involvement in anti-party activities, told IANS that at the meeting he discussed the political scenario with other like-minded leaders.

"It is a new beginning, let us wait for some more time to see something concrete," he said.
