School-kids block Patna’s busiest Bailey Road after beating of mates by police

Patna,(BiharTimes): A large number of school children of government middle school in Raja Bazar locality of Patna blocked Bailey Road for several hours on Friday in protest against the alleged thrashing of their mates by police for what they say no rhyme and reason.

As the Secretariat, Assembly, government offices, ministerial quarters, premier institutions etc are situated on this important road the blockade caused inconvenience to the passers-by for several hours.

According to reports policemen of nearby outpost would use the school latrine. This caused a tiff with the children. Upon this the policemen took away some children and thrash them in the thana. Police sources said that some school-kids bolted the latrine from outside when one of the policemen was inside. This infuriated the policemen and they decided to teach children a lesson.

The parents of little boys and girls were furious over this barbarism and they along with the teachers reached the outpost to register their protest.

ADGP P K Thakur said that probe has been ordered in this regard.

Anger is palpable among the local citizens over the growing brutality of the police as the kids beaten by the police have not yet reached their teen age.

Children alleged that Friday’s incident was not the first of its kind to take place in this government middle school, situated only a couple of kilometers away from Raj Bhawan and CM’s residence.
