Lady principal ‘slaps’ DM, arrested

Patna,(BiharTimes): A lady principal of a girls’ college of Gopalganj in Bihar on Thursday reportedly slapped a district magistrate for questioning her competence to hold fair examinations. However, the district magistrate claimed that he escaped the attack as the woman constable, Ishrat Jahan, intervened to save him.

The incident took place at Mahendra Mahila College where Class-XII examinations were going on

According to reports the district magistrate, Pankaj Kumar Pal, found the examinees openly using unfair means. Several students were expelled and a large number of books and guess papers seized. When Pal asked for principal Madhu Prabha Singh she reportedly shrugged her shoulders saying that it was not her duty to discipline the examinees.

However, the teachers of the college alleged that the district magistrate misbehaved with the lady principal and it was only after that she slapped him.

After the incident the DM got the lady principal arrested. A report has been sent to the state government, recommending stern action against the principal. He has also lodged a case of subversion of official duty and provoking students against the law enforcing agency. The NSUI and RJD students’ wing staged demonstration demanding her release.

It needs to be recalled that a few days back the district magistrate expelled a girl examinee of Class-X. Upon this she threatened to commit suicide. But even that did not deter him. The girl finally committed suicide.
