RJD stages walk out over non-allotment of land for AMU

Patna,(BiharTimes): Rashtriya Janata Dal MLAs on Wednesday raised the issue of non-allotment of land to the off campus branch of Aligarh Muslim University in Kishanganj both inside and outside the Assembly.
Before the state Assembly started its proceeding the members raised slogans against the state government for not allotting land to the AMU notwithstanding repeated demand. Later the party MLAs staged walk out from the Asssembly over the issue.

RJD MLA from Kocha Daman in Kishanganj, Akhtar-ul-Iman, was in the forefront of those leading the protest outside the Assembly. The party MLAs alleged that while the state government had handed over land to the Centre for the opening of Nalanda International University by the Union government why is it that it has failed to allot land for the AMU off-campus centre.

They said that it was none else but the chief minister Nitish Kumar himself who compelled the AMU to shift its campus from Katihar to Kishanganj. Now more than two years have passed yet no land has been allotted whereas in other states classes have started in off campus branches.

RJD’s protest follow a day-long sit-in on the issue by SIO, a students’ organization, on Tuesday. Its activists assembled outside Patna Science College and marched to Kargil Chowk, where they sat on dharna.
