Non-payment of salary to teachers: Left MLCs blast Bihar govt

.Patna,(BiharTimes): MLCs belonging to the Left parties on Thursday strongly protested the issue of non-payment of salary to over two lakh primary school teachers for the last over five months forcing the Chairman of the Upper House, Tarakant Jha, to intervene.
The Chairman of the Legislative Council asked the state government to look into the matter seriously.

CPI(M) member Basudeo Singh said that over two lakh primary teachers in Bihar had not got salaries for the past five months even after Holi.

He also raised the issue of Budgetary allocation of Rs 2,400 crore for the purpose which is Rs 640 crore short of the requirements for clearing the dues of the teachers.

Supporting him the CPI MLC Kedar Nath Pandey regretted that though the issue was raised in the Council during the past one month no effort was made to pay the salary.

It needs to be recalled that last week the teachers announced that they would not celebrate Holi because of the non-payment of salary.
