Nitish flays Chidambaram’s remarks

.Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that though he is not aware of the exact content of the diplomatic cable released by Wikileaks yet on the basis of whatever is appeaing in the media and statements of the leaders he can say that the remarks made by the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram, is not justified.

According to reports Chidambaram had reportedly said in 2009 that India would have made more progress if it had only Southern and Western states with it.

Talking to reporters on Friday the chief minister said the entire country is one and development of all parts must be ensured. India is one and inclusive growth of the country has to be achieved, he added.

He alleged that faulty policy of Centre has become impediment in the development of Bihar. Nitish once again recalled that after the division of Bihar in 2000, the rest of the state suffered heavy loss of revenue.

He also said while the state had enough potential in the field of sugarcane development, the Centre shifted the focus to Uttar Pradesh and other states.

It needs to be mentioned that Wikileaks reports said that Chidambaram during his interaction with US Ambassador Timothy Roemer in 2009 reportedly made the above remarks.

However, Chidambaram on Friday denounced the diplomatic cable. “Don't dignify the cables...But if you want me to comment, I denounce the cables,” he was quoted in a PTI report from New Delhi.
