RJD leader arrested in Gaya with ammunition

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bindeshwari Prasad Yadav, alias Bindi Yadav, who unsuccessfully contested the last year Assembly election from Gurua in Gaya district on RJD ticket, was arrested by police on Friday.
According to reports police had seized over 4,000 rounds of ammunition, from his vehicle.

Bindi, once a noted strongman of Gaya, is a road contractor and it is suspected that he had links with the Maoists. However, local citizens of Sherghatty sub-division of Gaya district, told BiharTimes that Bindi had apparently nothing to do with the Maoists. In fact the latter targeted his men in the recently held Assembly election. The truth is that road contractors in that region can not survive without having any workable relationship with the ultras.

Though Bindi contested the election on RJD ticket he had been in different political parties in the past.
The issue of Bindi’s arrest was raised in the state Assembly by Shrawan Kumar of the Janata Dal (United), who wanted to distract the attention of the House when the MLAs were on the warpath on the issue of water and power shortage.

This was strongly opposed by the RJD members. Leader of the opposition in the state Assembly, Abdul Bari Siddiqui, strongly opposed the manner in which the issue was raised and said that not a single RJD leader had done anything for freeing Bindi, then why should the issue be raised in the House at this juncture when the MLAs have raised the issue of water and power crises. He said that the state government should maintain impartiality in taking action and should shun taking action out of political vendetta. Congress legislature party leader Sadanand Singh backed him.
