CM issues yet another order on traffic jam

Patna,(BiharTimes): On April 24 Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued order for the clearance of traffic jam on Mahatma Gandhi Setu. This follows a high-level meeting presided over by him.
It seems to have little impact. On Monday (May 9) he issued another order asking the City SP to act.

In fact the menace has spread elsewhere now. For the last five days the National Highway from Patna to Bakhtiarpur has been badly jammed causing immense hardship to people belonging to all sections of the society. On Sunday a minister in the Nitish cabinet got stuck in the bridge for more than four hours.

Following a suggestion by a common man on television channel light vehicles have been diverted from Fatuha to Patna-Gaya Road (near Gaurichak) from where it will reach back to the state capital near Zero Mile.
On Saturday another meeting was held, this time under the chairmanship of the DGP and not the chief minister to streamline and regulate the traffic.

The police have decided to depute more officials to tackle the perpetual traffic jams in and around the state capital, including Mahatma Gandhi Setu and from Zero Mile to Fatuah.

Patna police have been allotted three deputy superintendent of police (DSPs) rank officials and 50 constables to regulate the traffic from near Beur Jail to Fatuah. Of late, this 30 km stretch has become the troubled zone.
In the same way Vaishali police have also been allotted three inspectors along with 32 constables to regulate the area from Ramashish Chowk, Hajipur town to the portion of the Ganga bridge that comes under Vaishali district.

According to the additional general of police (ADG) police headquarter Rajyavardhan Sharma two cranes would be provided on both sides of the the bridge to help in removing the stranded vehicles and wireless fitted vehicle will monitor the traffic. A DSP rank officer will coordinate the traffic rules on this stretch.

Those who will overtake the vehicle on this stretch would be heavily penalised. The traffic flow on Mahatma Gandhi setu has increased manifold following the ban of heavy vehicles on Rajendra rail-cum-road bridge near Mokama.
The latest move follows a meeting chaired by the chief minister Nitish Kumar held on April 24. It was decided to fix the responsibility of smooth traffic flow on Mahatma Gandhi Setu on the DMs and SPs of Patna and Vaishali districts.
Earlier, it was said that due to panchayat election there was paucity of police and magistrate to man the bridge.
