Nitish flays oil price hike, says nothing for Congress to cheer about in poll-results

Patna,(BiharTimes): Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Monday that the petrol price hike will have a cumulative effect on the prices of other goods.
Talking to newsmen on Monday he termed the latest price hike by the State-owned petroleum companies as an opportunistic step taken immediately after the Assembly election.

Nitish claimed that the Congress had hardly gained anything in the just concluded round of Assembly elections, especially in West Bengal where the poll result was solely the victory of Trinamool Congress.
Nitish said that he would demand additional grant of Rs 4,000 crore every annum in the 12th plan during the consultation meeting of Planning Commission with chief ministers of five eastern states to be held in Patna later this month.

He reiterated that he would raise the issue of according special status to Bihar at the meeting to be attended by Chief Ministers of Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh besides officials of Planning Commission.

Bihar would also present its views on the expectations during the 12th Plan period. He said that the Centre should fix the 12th Plan size in consultation with the State and continue the assistance of Rs 1,000 crore being received by Bihar since bifurcation of the State in 2000.
