Ramadhar Singh was forced to resign last week as the cooperative minister in the Nitish Kumar government.
He is a legislator from Aurangabad, about 140 km from here.

Last week, soon after his resignation, the Patna High Court directed him to surrender in the lower court.

Ramadhar Singh ran foul of law after allegedly making an inflammatory speech directed against Muslims following the 1992 demolition of the Babri mosque in Ayodhya that triggered widespread communal riots.

He had said that he was resigning to "save the image" of the Nitish Kumar government.
