Now LJP seeks dismissal of another ‘absconder’ Bihar minister

Patna,(BiharTimes): Following publication of another news-item in a section of media stating that the Urban Development Minister Prem Kumar is also an absconder the Lok Janshakti Party on Sunday demanded his immediate dismissal from the Nitish cabinet.

Like in the case of the then Cooperative Minister Ramadhar Singh, the media reporting provided the opposition parties an opportunity to seek his removal from the cabinet. Last time it was the leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly and Legislative Council, Abdul Bari Siddiqui and Ghulam Ghouse, who sought removal of Ramadhar. This time it was the turn of the LJP to train guns on the state government.

Prem Kumar had been declared an absconder by a court 15 years ago and had withheld the information during filing of nomination for Assembly polls. He has been reporesenting Gaya for last two decades.

Talking to newsmen State LJP President Pashupati Kumar Paras said that Prem was declared an absconder by the then Chief Judicial Magistrate of Gaya on March 23, 1996 in connection with a case registered against him at Kotwali police station five years earlier.

He said the Minister has not only been absconding but is also guilty of suppression of the case status in the affidavit submitted by him at the time of filing nomination to contest from Gaya town assembly seat last year.

According to him the charges against Prem were grave in nature and he should be sacked from the ministry by the Chief Minister without any further delay. He said an LJP delegation would soon approach
the Election Commission of India seeking termination of the Urban Development Minister's membership of the Legislative Assembly as he had hidden these details in his affidavit before contesting Assembly polls.

Only last week the LJP claimed that as high as 14 of the 30 ministers in the Nitish government are tainted and had criminal cases lodged against themand said that the Chief Minister should order speedy trial of the cases involving them by special courts.
