Robbers loot Rs 17 lakh even during Chhath

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though Chhath often witnesses fall in crime because it is considered inauspicious to commit any wrong on this occasion three armed robbers looted Rs 17 lakh from Vijay Sharaf, a sugar trader of north Bihar from Purani Bazaar area under Muzaffarpur Town police station on Monday afternoon.

Sharaf was on his way to deposit the money in the Mithanpura branch of State Bank of India (SBI) from his Purani Bazaar house. The businessman, who was carrying the moneybag in his hand, was about to sit in his car when the three criminals looted the money on pistol-point.


The daylight crime on such a day sent shockwaves among businessmen in the town.
According to police the criminals were waiting for Sharaf, who usually goes to the bank for depositing money around that time of the day. After commiting the crime the three criminals sped away on a motor-cycle.


The president of North Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Motilal Chaparia, has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation and incidents of crime on the trading community.
