Cases filed against SFC official, PDS dealers in East Champaran

Patna,(BiharTimes): A couple of days before the start of Nitish Kumar’s Sewa Yatra and a few days after the chief minister’s announcement to tone up the Public Distribution System in Bihar the district magistrate of East Champaran, Abhijit Sinha, on Sunday ordered the Sadar SDO Radhakant to lodge cases in Town police station against Rajendra Pandey, assistant godown manager of State Food Corporation (SFC) and six dealers of the PDS for gross irregularities, forgery and blackmarketing of foodgrains.

Huge discrepancies were detected in lifting and distribution of the SFC godown and PDS dealers. The action was taken following an inquiry conducted by director of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Nagendra Kumar.
However, reports from the district said that this action was initiated by the administration well before the Nitish Kumar directed the DMs to make the PDS free of middlemen by strengthening the communication system about lifting of foodgrains from SFC godowns and keeping vigil on their distribution from the PDS to the poor.
