Citizens flay Nitish govt’s move to transfer Lande

Patna,(BiharTimes): The sudden and unexpected transfer of Patna Central SP, Shivdeep Lande, who was also doubling as the SP (Traffic) of the state capital has surprised all sections of the society. A large number of people, especially youths and girls, even took to streets. They met Lande in his office, sought his autograph and condemned the chief minister Nitish Kumar for transferring an officer who was doing his best to fight the criminals, the girl-runners, the mafia, the druglords, the maker of spurious medicine and fake currency notes.

While the All India Students Association burnt the effigy of the state government and sought immediate cancellation of the transfer order the RJD leader and MP, Ram Kripal Yadav, asked as to what prompted Nitish Kumar to transfer this man within nine or 10 months. What was wrong if he was taking action against blackmarketeers and those engaged in manufacture of fake drugs, foods and medicine, he asked.

But more than politicians it is the common people who are questioning the state government’s action. “One failed to understand this latest move of Nitish Kumar. He promoted Garima Malik to the post of SSP Darbhanga notwithstanding her involvement in the police barbarity in Bhajanpur in Araria district. On the other hand he transferred Lande to the backwater of Araria because he was doing good work,” asked Naiyer Fatmi, while talking to BiharTimes. Though Fatmi is originally from Patna he is spearheading a movement to provide justice to the victims of Bhajanpur (Forbesganj) police firing of June 3 last.

Old timers recall that after the transfer of Kishore Kunal in early 1980s, when he tried to arrest the main culprit involved in the infamous Bobby murder case, the transfer of Shivdeep Lande had angered the people of the state capital most.

Among those who is regretting the Nitish Kumar government’s decision to shift him out of Patna to the remotest and the most backward district of Bihar is the girl who was publicly molested and her father assaulted near Income Tax roundabout just over a month back. “Now whom would I ring up for protection,” she said. The Magadh Mahila College girl had the mobile number of Lande and she immediately contacted him after the incident.

But the blackmarketeers and fake currency note makers, having right political connection, seems to have the last laugh. They got the man thrown out over 350 kms away.

Even top former and serving police officials are shocked beyond words over the transfer order of Lande who was doing exceptionally well. What was the hurry in getting him out leaving two important posts vacant, asks one of them.

The transfer order, though made at the order of none else but the chief minister, seriously dented the image of no nonsense present DGP, Abhayanand, who is feeling extremely helpless. Five years back he was credited for the introduction of fast track court. Gone are those days. Now are the days of fast transfer of honest officers. Sushasan Zindabad.
