Payback time for journalist as Bihar govt announces awards for Fourth Estate

Patna,(BiharTimes): Strange are the ways the Nitish Kumar government is adopting to woo and award journalists in Bihar.

First, the lure of advertisements was made to win over the media barons. Now on the completion of the sixth years in office the chief minister announced Patrakarita Samman Yojna for the print and electronic media journalists in four categories

But perhaps never before any government has been so selective in announcing awards and honour. For example, the four categories selected for Samman are: Urdu, Women, Socio-Economic and Developmental Reporting, and Lifetime Achievement awards.

The state government’s decision, instead of appeasing the journalist fraternity, has ended up dividing them. First the photo-journalists protested as to why they have been excluded. Upon this the chief minister hurriedly announced another award for them too.

But what infuriated many journalists is the announcement of award exclusively for Urdu journalism. “If language is a criteria why was those engaged in English and Hindu journalism excluded?” asked a senior English language journalist.

“How can the state government justify this move when there is hardly any Urdu journalism going on in the state. In the name of Urdu newspaper some government pamphlets are coming up. The case is no different in other language newspapers too. They too are busy cooking up fantastic stories in favour of the state government yet they have been excluded from exclusive award for language journalism,” he added.

Almost all ministers and top bureaucrats and police officials were present at Samwad, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, on the occasion where Nitish released the government’s report card in English, Hindi and Urdu. The report is also available on the state government’s website.

Several journalists were honoured on the occasion.

Nitish Kumar : The wise man who robbed Bihar
As mentioned in my earlier comments,Nitish has learnt his lessons directly from the book called " The Protocols of the Elders of Zion "to achieve provincial domination. He follows the book with complete religious seriousness. And this is where he learns and practices the abuse of power.According to Nitish Kumar NOT A SINGLE ANNOUNCEMENT SHOULD REACH THE PUBLIC WITHOUT HIS CONTROL. News received are censored by the CM office before publication. In order for the news gatherers and journalist to be dictated the terms It was necessary to appease them by financial rewards. And hence the PATRAKARITA SAMMAN YOJNA.
And so far as the urdu media is concerned, It is a donation given for watching television and translating the news and views in urdu.
