Ram Vilas calls Nitish govt most corrupt at LJP rally

Patna,(BiharTimes): The national president of Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas Paswan chose the 12th Foundation Day of his party to launch a blistering attack on the state chief minister, Nitish Kumar. The LJP was formed after breaking away from the then Janata Dal (United) on November 28, 2000 when Paswan was, with Nitish Kumar, still in the Vajpayee cabinet.

On Monday he challenged his former friend-cum-ministerial colleague Nitish Kumar’s tall claim about development of Bihar, saying the state government's share in plan outlay for the current financial year was only Rs 11,000 crore against about Rs 14,000 crore of the Union government. The state government is highlighting the success of all the centrally-sponsored scheme as its own achievement, he added.

Speaking at a big rally organized on the occasion here at Gandhi Maidan the former Union minister alleged that corruption had reached all time high level in the Nitish regime. He also raised the issue of gross irregularities in the AC-DC Bills worth Rs 67,000 crore.

Paswan told the crowd that a significant portion of this money was meant for the implementation of MNREGA scheme.

Pointing towards hopeless electricity supply position in the state he said the Nitish government could not set up a single power plant, which was so essential for development. Yet, it talks of developing Bihar.

Dubbing the Sewa Yatra as Mewa Yatra he said black marketeers of fertilizers were being protected under the Nitish regime.

Criticizing the demand for special category status to Bihar, he asked Nitish why did not he raise the issue when he was in the Vajpayee cabinet and the state was being bifurcated and Bihar had to part with the entire mineral-rich region of Jharkhand.

His film star son, Chirag and his two brothers, Ram Chandra Paswan, and Pashupati Kumar Paras also spoke on the occasion. Ram Vilas’ wife Reena Paswan was also present on the dais.

Given the fact that the LJP hardly exists in Bihar Assembly and Legislative Council the turnout in the rally was good.
