No arrest in Patna girl’s molestation case yet, police release sketches

Patna,(BiharTimes): Forty-eight hours after the molestation of a college girl in the heart of Patna and subsequent assault on her father the Patna Police have failed to arrest any one. This notwithstanding the fact that one of the two-wheelers involved in the incident belonged to a policeman.

On Saturday the Patna Police released sketches of the two youths who were actually said to be involved in the incident.

According to City SP (Central) Shivdeep Lande the sketches, drawn on the basis of inputs provided by the girl's father, would be displayed at public places and an appeal made to the people to tip off police if they know them.

Now reports say that the girl had Lande’s number in her cellphone and she made a distress call to him too. He even reached the spot but to no avail as the youths had by then fled from the scene.

The SP said that the bike with a police tag on it belonged to one Ravi Prakash, younger son of Bihar Military Police’s ASI Dhyuman Singh. The ASI and his elder son Rakesh came to the police station on Friday. Rakesh introduced himself as Ravi and pleaded for the release of the bike.

But, according to the SP, they suspected some foul play and asked them to send Ravi to the police station. His father said Ravi studies in Delhi. Lande added that a case of impersonation would be lodged against Rakesh. Police have also questioned the liquor shop’s owner from where the two youths purchased liquor.

The SP said that order has been issued, directing police personnel to use the tag of police only on official vehicles. Personal vehicles of policemen would be booked if they have police tag on them.
Meanwhile, SSP Alok Kumar has suspended the SI and two constables who were in the mobile police team formed to patrol the area near the Income Tax roundabout on Thursday.

On the other hand police have failed to arrest anyone involved in Friday’s broadday light murder of a contractor in the Central Public Works Department office in Punaichak near Patna Secretariat.
