Nitish best CM only after Shri Babu, concedes Sushil Modi

Patna,(BiharTimes): A day after friend-turn-rival Lallan Singh said that no comparison can be made between first chief minister Shri Krishna Sinha and the present incumbent Nitish Kumar the latter chose to give a new angle to the whole debate by stating that the question should be best left to the people of the state to decide.

Incidentally, Lallan on Thursday used the birth anniversary of Shri Babu to lambaste Nitish. The chief minister also chose a similar function on Friday to counter him.

While the first function was organized by RJD leader-turn-Congressman Akhilesh Singh the one in which Nitish took part was more or less the show of Congressman-turn JD (U) MLC, Mahachandra Prasad Singh.

Akhilesh’s show was organized under the aegis of the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmarshi Samaj (ABBS). It was held a day earlier at the Shri Krishna Memorial (SKM) Hall because the hall was booked for Mahachandra’s function on October 21, the actual birth anniversary.

Whatever Nitish might have said his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi, chose to play politics. Sensing the presence of a large number of Bhumihars he, while speaking on the occasion, conceded that Nitish has been the best performing chief minister after Shri Babu. He, however, added that former chief ministers Karpoori Thakur and Jagannath Mishra could also have left their indelible marks, but they did not get sufficient time. Modi’s reference to Dr Jagannath Mishra came as a surprise as till the latter joined Janata Dal (United) the deputy chief minister had been among his greatest critics. During the entire fodder scam years Modi would club him with Lalu Yadav so far corruption charges are concerned.

The two functions had more to do with Bhumihar politics than actually remembering Shri Babu. Modi chose to declare Shri Babu as the best CM as the present establishment does not want to antagonize Bhumihars any more. It is well aware of the price it had to pay after announcing its plan to enact a new Bataidari law. Lallan Singh and others made it an excuse to rebel.

After Lallan’s exit Nitish promoted Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and roped in P K Shahi. They both come from the same caste and are now both ministers in his cabinet.

On Friday the chief minister also announced that a state-level organising committee would be set up to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Sri Krishna Sinha which is to be held in 2012 as he was born on October 21, 1887.
