House of former MMC principal targeted by land mafia in Patna

Patna,(BiharTimes): Another house belonging to a Bengali family in the heart of Patna is on the target of the land mafia of Bihar, which have really grown strong in the last few years.
Only a few months after the IIT Kharagpur Professor, Sujoy Kumar Guha, lost his ancestral house in New Dak Bungalow Road, Prof Mala Ghosh, former principal of Magadh Mahila College, is facing the ugly music and that too in the same locality in Patna’s most important location.

It needs to be recalled that Prof Papiya Ghosh of Department of History, Patna University, was killed in December 2006 by alleged land mafia as she used to live alone in her house in posh Pataliputra Colony.

The mafia has used a unique method to grab the house of former Magadh Mahila College principal. Eighty-four year old Mala Ghosh received a summon from the court of sub-judge of Barh a few days back as a case has been filed by Sanjay Kumar, son of Raghunandan Singh. He alleged that Prof Mala Ghosh had not yet got her house at New Dak Bungalow Road registered even though she had already taken Rs 15 lakh in advance from him. His petition said that she is now refusing to sell the house.

He had attached the sale’s agreement and a forged signatures of Mala Ghosh and four witnesses.
But Prof Ghosh says that she had never been to Barh and there is no question of selling the house. She had been living alone in the house after the death of her husband in 2003. Her father Sharat Ranjan, the former Labour Commissioner of Bihar, built the house in 1939. Prof Ghosh’s daughter is settled in Aurangabad in Maharashtra.

Prof Ghosh said that the price of her house is no less than Rs two crore and she does not need any money to sell it as she gets her own and her husband’s pension.

State DGP Abhayanand, who visited her house after being informed, said that security has been provided to her. However, he said that she will have to appear in the court to clarify her position.
Meanwhile, two women from Sanjay Kumar’s family came a few days back to request Prof Ghosh to forgive and forget the matter.
