IIT Award for Bihar origin teacher

Patna,(BiharTimes): Prof B B Pandey, originally from Bhojpur district in Bihar, received IIT (Kharagpur) Alumnus Award from Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on August 22 last.
Prof Pandey is currently Advisor (Sponsored Research and Industrial Consultancy) at IIT (Kharagpur). The award was conferred on August 22 during the Diamond Jubilee Convocation.

A former student of B N College Patna, Prof Pandey, is 1961 IIT Kharagpur graduate. He had also served as a faculty member of Bihar College of Engineering, now NIT Patna before moving to IIT Kharagpur. He had received several prestigious awards in the past too.


On the other hand B P Roy, who teaches Commerce and Accountancy in St Michael’s High School has been selected by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for “Award to Teachers for the year 2010” in recognition of his contribution to secondary education.


Union human resource development minister Kapil Sibal will present Roy, the award at India International Centre, New Delhi, on September 4. Roy’s award comprises a certificate of commendation, Rs 25,000 and a shawl. He dedicated the award to his students.


According to K K Jain, Deputy Secretary, CBSE, Patna Region, each year, two teachers or principals are selected by the CBSE from each of its seven regions for the annual Award to Teachers.


The seven regions are Ajmer, Allahabad, Chennai, Delhi, Patna, Panchkula and Guwahati Patna region consists of Bihar and Jharkhand, and this year, besides Roy, the principal of DAV School Koyla Nagar, Dhanbad, have been selected for the Award.
