Fate of newly appointed VCs hang in balance following Patna HC ruling

Patna,(BiharTimes): A division bench of the Patna High Court comprising Justice Shiva Kirti Singh and Justice Shivaji Pandey on Thursday upheld the earlier single bench judgment of the same Court, which quashed the appointment of the Vice Chancellors of Magadh and Veer Kuer Singh universities.
The Court took the plea that these appointments were made by the Governor-cum-Chancellor without consulting the state government.

With the latest ruling the fate of six newly appointed VCs and four pro-VCs of different universities in the state now hangs in the balance.


The VCs whose tenure is at stake are Shambhu Nath Singh of Patna University, Bimal Kumar of BRA Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Ram Binod Singh of Jayaprakash University, Chapra, Arvind Pandey of K S D Sanskrit University, Darbhanga, Arun Kumar of B N Mandal University, Madhepura, and S Zoha of Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University, Patna.


Besides, the fate of four pro-VCs also hangs in the balance. They are J P Singh of Patna, P K Verma of B N Mandal Kumaresh Singh of L N Mithila and S K Zabeen of Maulana Mazharul Haq universities.
The VC and pro-VCs were appointed on August 1 last and the state government once again said that no consultation was made by the Chancellor.
