Nitish welcomes Inter-Ministerial Group on Special Status

Patna,(BiharTimes): Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday welcomed the formation of an Inter-Ministerial Group by the Planning Commission to study the Special Status demand of the Bihar government.
Talking to reporters on the sidelines of the Janata Darbar on Monday he said that it is a positive step forward and the state would get justice. He said that the Group would submit its report within three months and should consult the state government and all the stakeholders.

He said that earlier it was said that only the National Development Council can take decision in this regard. But now the Centre had accepted the Bihar government’s repeated demand for special status.

The Planning Commission, following instruction from the Prime Minister, last Thursday constituted an Inter-Ministerial Group. Planning Commission member-secretary, Sudha Pillai, has been made the Chairperson of the Group while the Secretary in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Sumit Bose, has been made its member.
