Who is wrong: Indian Minister or Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen

Patna,(BiharTimes): Though Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen in an interview in the United States recently defended the appointment of Gopa Sabharwal as the Vice Chancellor and claimed that she fulfilled the requisite criteria what the Minister of State for Extenal Affairs Mr E Ahamed told Rajya Sabha is something different.

When Anil Madhav Dave, BJP Rajya Sabha MP through Question Number 2507 on August 25, 2011 asked “Will the Minister of External Affair be pleased to state:
(a) whether a Vice Chancellor has been appointed in Nalanda University;
(b) if so, whether incumbent possesses requisite teaching experience at post graduate level besides administrative experience;
(c) the details of panel of selectors; and
(d) the other candidates considered for this post?”
The minister replied:

(a) No.

Now it is for the people to decide whether the Minister of State for External Affairs is misinforming the Upper House of Indian Parliament or Amartya Sen is saying something wrong in the interview.
Anyway something somewhere seems to be serious wrong in the run-up to the establishment of such prestigious International University. If the answer is really No as the Minister of State had said than in which capacity Dr Sabharwal is working.
What is more interesting is that the question was raised by Mr Dave, the BJP MP from Madhya Pradesh. Why the 40 MPs of Bihar, 32 of the NDA, did not ask this question in Parliament? Why were they not bothered about when the issue is related to the coming up of an international university in their state? Or where they just asked to keep quiet on the issue?
Meanwhile, the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday disclosed that “I had received information in July last when Mentor Group met in Patna that Dr Kalam may dissociate in some way. I met him recently. He said he had refused and there was no scope for rethink.”
Nitish, however, denied that Kalam was unhappy over the appointment of Gopa Sabharwal as the Vice Chancellor of the University and thus distanced himself from the project.
