Supreme Court dismisses SLPs of two former VCs

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the Special Leave Petitions of the sacked VCs of Magadh University and Veer Kuer Singh University.
The apex court bench of Justice G S Singhvi and Justice S J Mukhopadhyaya thus upheld the May 4 ruling of the Patna High Court on the appointment of Arvind Kumar and Subhash Prasad Sinha as the VCs of Magadh and Veer Kuer Singh Universities.

The Court observed that there was nothing on record which suggested that there was effective consultation between the Chancellor and the state government before the appointment of the two last year April.
The state government had always maintained that it was not consulted by Chancellor-cum-Governor Devanand Konwar before their appointment. It also took similar plea on the appointment of six VCs and five pro-VCs by the Chancellor on August 1 this year.
