Electricity Board plays April Fool with consumers

Patna,(BiharTimes): Both Bihar and Tamil Nadu announced hike in electricity tariff last week. The only difference is that while Tamil Nadu did if after nine years, Bihar increased the rate more than half a dozen times in the last couple of years.

The rate of Tamil Nadu has been increased from 65 paise per unit to Rs 1.10 paise per unit for the first 100 units, which is much lower than Bihar.

What is more while Bihar State Electricity Board once again assured that Patna, Rajgir and Bodh Gaya would receive 24 hours power supply from April 1 the citizens of Patna had a pleasant surprise on the very first day.

In fact a large part of Patna plunged into darkness just before midnight of March 31-April 1. Even on Sunday power played pranks in many parts of the city.

Earlier, BSEB had announced 24 hours power supply to these three places from Dec 1, but it failed in its commitment.

Power situation has started deteriorating elsewhere in the state, especially after the Bihar Diwas celebrations. The rise in temperature had its adverse impact on the power supply.
