Aurangabad SP accused of firing at engineer

Patna,(BiharTimes): After an IAS Probationer posted in Nalanda district a Bihar cadre IPS officer has landed in a controversy.

The Superintendent of Police Aurangabad, Sidharth Mohan Jain, has been accused of trying to shoot at a junior engineer of Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation (BPBCC) in the district on Wednesday.

According to BPBCC junior engineer Dev Nayar the SP tried to shoot at him at Dhibra police station while inspecting its construction. He said he survived because Jain missed the target. The bullet grazed his ears, he claimed.

The engineer alleged that Jain snatched the service revolver of a deputy superintendent of police accompanying him and opened fire. Nayar said he that he had apprised senior officials of his department about the incident.

In a letter to newspapers and news channels he said that it is not possible for him to work under such circumstances. He said he would rather prefer to proceed on a long leave. However, no police complaint has been lodged.

Jain, on his part, rejected  the allegation. He said Nayar accompanied him on the inspection of the buildings at Nabinagar, Tandwa, Dhibra, Deo and Madanpur police stations. The quality of work was sub-standard.

The SP said he had asked Nayar to rectify the anomalies within 15 days. Else, he would lodge an FIR against him. This is an attempt to divert the attention from the issue.

The deputy inspector general of Magadh Range, Nayyar Hasnain Khan, said the case would be probed.
