Six minors booked by Patna Police as habitual offenders

Patna,(BiharTimes): Patna Police has done it once again. More than a month before the Patna Municipal Corporation election it has included half a dozen school-boys in their list of “habitual offenders and threats to peace”.
Incidentally, four of the six boys hail from backward castes while two others are Dalits. They come from Yadavnagar locality of Khagaul.
The election is due on May 16.

They were booked under various sections of the Criminal Procedure Code when the fact is that minors can only be booked under the Juvenile Justice Act.

These teenagers will have to appear before a court and pay a bond of Rs one lakh. This is a very difficult task as all of them come from economically backward families. In one case two brothers aged 15 and 16 have been booked and the poor parents would be forced to come out with Rs two lakhs.

Even Patna Superintendent of Police, Kim, conceded that it might be a case of mistaken identity. She assured that she would find out the fact.

What is strange is that the police has been quick in taking action against the minors even as dreaded criminals are wreaking havoc all over the state capital and even in Khagaul.
