Dumb woman killed, body chopped in Bihar

Patna, April 17 (IANS) A dumb woman was killed and her chopped body parts were dumped near railway tracks in three different districts in Bihar, police said Tuesday. Her father alleged she was killed for dowry.

Soni Devi, in her mid-20s and a resident of Bachwara in Begusarai district, is suspected to have been killed by her husband Sanjay Singh and his parents. The suspects are absconding.

"Soni was first killed, her body was chopped and her body parts were dumped in three districts," investigating officer Manoj Kumar told IANS over telephone.

Her body parts were recovered over the past four days.

Police said that Soni's legs were found near railway tracks in Darbhanga district and her hands were found near tracks in Samastipur district. Her remaining body was found near railway tracks in Begusarai.

Soni's father Narendra Singh alleged that her daughter was killed in a gruesome manner by her husband and in-laws for dowry. "Since her marriage three years ago, her husband and in-laws were harassing her for dowry," he alleged.
