Dacoits kill two women in Sasaram, looted Rs 10 lakhs

Patna,(BiharTimes): In another incident of dacoity in the state the wife of a Dalit LPG gas dealer and his sister were killed, five other family members were seriously injured and property worth Rs 10 lakh looted by criminals at New Area, a prime locality of Sasaram, the district headquarters of Rohtas district late on Sunday night.

Two of the seriously injured, both brothers, were referred to Patna Medical College Hospital in critical condition.

According to Rohtas SP Manu Maharaj, who reached the spot with a dog squad on Monday morning, raids were on to nab the culprits.

The LPG dealers observed bandh on Monday in protest against the incident. A sense of insecurity has gripped the people of the town. Sasaram has witnessed several such killings and dacoities in the last few months and the police have failed to crack most of the cases.

Incidentally, only a couple of days back a man was killed and his daughter seriously injured in a robbery by criminals near Beur Jail in Patna. The criminals posed themselves as STF personnel to carry out the crime.

Reports from Sasaram said that the armed criminals stormed into the rented house of LPG dealer, Ravindra Ram and made all the eight family members hostage at gunpoint. Then the criminals started beating them with lathi and iron rods till they became unconscious. After this, they looted Rs seven lakh cash and jewellery and other items worth Rs three lakh.

His wife Sangeeta Devi and sister Babita succumbed to their injuries at Sasaram Sadar Hospital and Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), respectively. Two brothers-in-law of Ram were referred to Patna in critical condition. Ram himself, his two children and brother were admitted to Gopal Narain Singh Medical College and Hospital in Sasaram where their condition is stated to be out of danger.
