Patna,(BihraTimes): Before he embarked on the Sewa Yatra to East Champaran it was expected that the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar would make the establishment of Central University of Bihar at Motihari the main issue. It was also thought that through this issue he would target the Centre, especially the Union Human Resources Development Minister, Kapil Sibal. Two days before his visit, that is, on April 18 local people formed human chain to press their demand for the CUB in Motihari. | As reported earlier the CM was accompanied by none else but the minister in charge of East Champaran district, Prem Kumar. The latter is the BJP MLA from Gaya Town and had sometimes back in Gaya supported the demand for CUB in his home district, rather than in Motihari. Therefore, he was strongly criticised and his effigies were burnt all over East Champaran district. But Prem changed his stand once he was here. However, what surprised political observers is that Nitish himself spoke much less on the issue of Central University of Bihar. In fact wherever he went he had to face hostile crowd with their long list of demands and complaints. The chief minister was somewhat on defensive and did not get much opportunity to launch any tirade against the Centre. However, political observers are of the view that realization has now dawned upon Nitish that he can do nothing on the issue of Central University as it is a central subject. If the defence ministry is giving its own land to the HRD ministry how can a chief minister stall the move? So, if Prem has supported the demand of CUB in Gaya notwithstanding the Bihar Assembly resolution he can not do so on his own.    comments... |
