Patna,(BiharTimes): The verbal battle between the BJP and Janata Dal (United) took a different shape on Monday with former Union minister and BJP spokesman, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, urging the people of Bihar to think beyond “Nitish and Lalu” if they wished development. Speaking at a function organized to mark the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Veer Kunwar Singh, the senior BJP leader, who is also the Rajya Sabha MP, did not give any credit to Nitish Kumar for the ‘development’ of the state. | His broadside against Nitish came a couple of days after the state BJP chief, Dr C P Thakur, made a veiled attack on the chief minister and when tension is increasing between the two NDA allies. Rudy said things have to change, only then can development take place. He said Anna Hazare and Baba Ramdev cannot change the country. Instead, the political class should go for introspection. He said time had come to assess if presidential form of government would be right for the country. Citing the examples of other states he said in Tamil Nadu, people talk about Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa, in West Bengal, they talk about Mamata Banerjee and the Left and in Bihar, people only talk about Nitish and Lalu. “We have to think above these people, only then can development take place. We have to set a different agenda for development.” Incidentally, Rudy’s statement was made in the presence of former BJP president Rajnath Singh and deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi, and several other senior state BJP leaders, who have often been critical of    Nitish. It was BJP MP from Motihari and former state party chief Radhamohan Singh, who in fact created anti-Nitish atmosphere in the function.  He ridiculed at the Janata Dal(United)’s blood donation camp organized in the party office on this occasion. He minced no words to say that in the name of Veer Kunwar Singh, some political parties is organising blood donation camps, but they are not showing any respect to the freedom fighter. They are only performing a formality.    comments... |
