CBI catches I-T inspector while taking bribe

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Central Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday arrested red-handed an Income Tax inspector Neeraj Kumar Neer from Gaya for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the chairman of a couple of educational societies.

According to CBI  SP Vijay Kumar Singh the CBI team from Patna laid a trap and nabbed Neer as soon as he took the bribe from the Bihar Education Society Founder chairman Jai Kumar Palit, who had lodged the complaint. Palit is a former Congress MLA from Gaya Town Assembly constituency.

The SP said that the Income Tax official had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for issuing no-objection certificate to Palit for his educational institutions.

Palit had lodged a complaint with the CBI who laid a trap and caught Neer as soon as he accepted the first instalment of Rs 10,000.
