Gadkari, Nitish meet, an attempt to broker peace

Patna,(BiharTimes): In a bid to broker peace between the two major NDA alliance partners in Bihar the Bharatiya Janata Party national president, Nitin Gadkari, had a luncheon meeting with the Bihar chief minister, Nitish Kumar, last week.

Reports from Mumbai suggest that the talks between the two are quite significant given the fact that the parties are gearing up for 2014 parliamentary election.

Party sources said that the meeting between the two leaders went on very well. With the BJP’s  performance in the recent elections far from satisfactory it can not afford to lose trusted ally like Janata Dal (United).

Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi did not figure in the talks. The BJP has reportedly assured that it is not going to project anyone as the prime ministerial candidate.

Gadkari is upset over the infighting within the BJP, especially between Modi and Sanjay Joshi.

But Gadkari knows that Gujarat chief minister has a good equation with Tamil Nadu and Odisha chief ministers as well Bal and Raj Thackerays. Besides, Modi is popular among the trading communities and industrialists.

The luncheon meeting between Nitish Kumar and Nitin Gadkari confirms that the Janata Dal (United) is not going to leave NDA. Political observers are of the view that all the anti-Narendra Modi diatribe by Nitish was just an exercise to befool the voters, especially those belonging to the minority community.
