Patna,(BiharTimes): On the second day in succession opposition members created a ruckus in the Bihar Assembly on Monday on the issue of gang-rape of a teenaged girl here about two months ago. They charged the state police with protecting and shielding some of the accused belonging to influential and powerful families.
While Water Resources Department Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary was replying to a Call Attention Motion of RJD MLAs, Bhai Virendra and Samrat Chaudhary, the opposition members shouted slogans against the state government before trooping into the well of the House. |
They alleged that the state police was trying to protect some accused persons belonging to influential and powerful families of the ruling party in the gangrape case.
Speaker Uday Narayan Chaudhary was seen repeatedly asking them to return to their seats and ask supplementary questions, but they continued to raise slogans against the state government.
However, after a few minutes he adjourned the House for lunch break. The minister, however, said the accused would not be spared but brought to justice through speedy trial after the investigation was completed.
As reported the girl was gangraped by seven persons at Rajvanshi Nagar on June 14 last and the accused had prepared a CD of it and uploaded it on a website to blackmail the victim.
It was after much hue and cry that the police arrested five accused and the servant of one of the accuse. However, two of the main accused are still at large.
Virendra amd Chaudhary had on Friday brought an Adjournment Motion in the Assembly to seek the state government’s reply on the case and progress in the investigation of the case. But the Speaker had converted the Adjournment Motion into a Call Attention Motion and directed the state government to reply on the matter on Monday.
