Believe it, Bihar govt sells land to ITBP at highest rate in country

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Centre had to pay unbelievably huge price of Rs 24 crore for just four acres of land in the outskirts of Patna to Bihar government for setting up sector headquarters for the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, a central paramilitary police force.

Real estate dealers are now feeling elated by the new price of land and that too further away from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences as it is the state government which is engaged in the sale of land at such an exorbitant price. The land is situated on Phulwarisharif-Naubatpur road and nobody can now stop those dealing in land to sell at lower price than this rate.

Director general of ITBP Ranjit Sinha was quoted in the media as saying that nowhere in India has any central police organization purchased land at such high prices. As per the parameters fixed by the ITBP, its sector headquarters headed by a DIG-rank officer is housed on a sprawling campus of 24 acres.

But since the cost of land was too high in Patna, the ITBP decided to alter its parameters so that sector headquarters could be set up here. Currently, the sector headquarters, which was inaugurated by the Union home secretary, R K Singh, a few months back, is being run from a rented house.Sinha said the money would soon be transferred to the Bihar government. Ministry of home affairs (MHA) had earlier sanctioned funds for the sector headquarters.

He further said that after the transfer of money to the Bihar government, the latter would start the process for acquisition of land, payment of compensation to the land owners etc before finally handing it over to the ITBP. But the real estate dealers doubt that the state government would pay to the farmers such a huge amount to the land owners from whom the land would be acquired.
